Monday morning meant a show in Pasadena, TX.  When we first booked the show in Pasadena, we were excited because it sounded exotic.  Little did we know it also had the nickname of Stinkadena, due to the awful smells that sometimes linger in the area.

We didn’t notice any smells but we did notice that we were on the wrong campus!  It was pretty good as far as cafeteria shows go.  The school was understanding of our mix up.

We headed to a burrito spot called Free Birds per a recommendation from my friend Thomas.  It was as good as he described.  It was hot and humid in Houston.  It reminded me of summer time, and I couldn’t wait to get home to the lush greenery of the mountains to experience summer.

We hit the road back to Shreveport again.  We were planning on staying at the Horseshoe Casino one more time.  We were feeling a little more energetic so we walked down for dinner on the boardwalk.  My uncle recommended that we hit it up.  It was good to do some walking around as we’d been in the car a lot.

We walked along the Red River, aware of the fact that only one more college show remained on our tour.  We called it an early night.

I woke up early on Tuesday.  I was starving and all I had was a piece of pizza that had sat in the car all day the day before.  I felt like I should probably reheat it, but there wasn’t a microwave in the room.  If you are reading this and you run a 4 star hotel, please do the world a favor and put a microwave in your room, or at least one in the business center.  I get what you’re doing, but it’s the least you could do.

I got the bright idea to heat up the slice with a hair dryer.  It actually worked pretty well.  If I could do it all over again, I would have put the pizza on an iron wrapped in aluminum foil, and blasted the top with the dryer, providing hot cheese and a crisp crust.  So if you’re ever stuck in a hotel without a microwave, you’ve got a chance at hot food.  If you are missing the fridge, you can dump ice into the sink and lay the food on top of it.  Many foods don’t require the intense level of temperature control we think they do.  I never refrigerate a lot of foods.  Chicken tenders, pizza, etc.

We had a bit of a scare at the school.  We were on the lawn but the college couldn’t find us.  We got squared away and started our show.  We were splitting our set with Dayton Ohio band Adelee & Gentry.  Two sisters.  They were nice and extremely talented. We somehow ended up with slight sunburns as we had an out door show.  The Northwestern State SGA was there promoting their college to any students looking to transfer.

Marjorie was so fun and charismatic.  She was the activities director for the school.  She treated us to hand breaded chicken tenders and french fries.  I ate too much.  Courageous had to call some places to pay some bills.  I sat in the student center and watched an old lady knit a scarf, and a young student disassemble a set up to play Smash Bros on.
